FOUR DECADES OF QUALITY HANDHELD INKJET

Armonk, New York - They say marriages don’t last, but these two family owned businesses Automated Marking Inc. (AMI) and Ernst Reiner GmbH & Co KG (REINER), have been dedicated to supplying industry leading handheld numbering machines along with marking and coding products for over four decades. Handheld inkjet printers came along about 20 years ago.

In 1981, Jeff Mear, the owner and CFO or AMI, entered into this agreement with REINER. Mear recalls, “The opportunity came after the purchase of an existing numbering machine business from a German gentleman named Erwin Tannhauser, who was selling a competing line. He had a relationship with Andreas Reiner, one of the owners and made the introduction in December of 1981. Sharing a similar vision of what it takes to be successful has taken us to where we are today. The rest, as they say, is history”.

The product portfolio began with numbering machines and has advanced to the jetStamp line of handheld thermal inkjet printers, which include models that have a self-traversing printhead. The product line continues to advance with innovations like an all-in-one printer and scanner/barcode reader.

“AMI and REINER have enjoyed a successful co-operation for more than 40 years! We are very proud of this long and reliable partnership, serving the American market with REINER numbering machines, smart handheld jetStamps and technical support. Thank you very much for this outstanding performance. We look forward to continuing this success story!” said Andy Reiner, Co-Founder of REINER.”

Pascal Regan, Director Sales - Industrial Marking and Stamps for REINER added, “40 years of belief in the products and philosophy of the 100 year old German company, REINER. This is a great proof of loyalty, commitment and motivation for the future! Our collaboration with our American importer and partner, AMI, has been looking to the future for several years now with Julian and Stephanie, the next Mear generation, just as motivated and active as under Jeff's reign to continue the regional development of our REINER company's market share. Today's challenges require a smart analysis and understanding of the fundamentals of the marking market and a skillful ability to adapt to ensure our continued presence in the market. I personally thank the Mear family for their support, professionalism and willingness to move forward in order to achieve the success that we are continuously seeking. We look forward to the next 40 years together with an even bigger caring, challenging and energetic spirit! Thank you for everything.“

Gerolf Heldmaier, Director of Sales and Marketing with Reiner concluded, “Always feeling the spirit of the times - embracing the changes! Even though I was only allowed to accompany a short period (1/5th) of the long-term cooperation, I am impressed with the high respect how the Mear family has developed as our REINER specialist dealer, importer and application specialist. The family’s commitment with a view to the future supported by an entrepreneurial spirit, open to changes and challenges in the market and product! And especially appreciated were all the personal meetings and business appointments - all the best personally and in business!”
