Geeetech launches its high-speed THUNDER FDM 3D printer

According to Geeetech, many consumer FDM printers, that are currently available on the market, are quite slow – which is the angle the company is using when marketing its new THUNDER high-speed 3D printer, which is expected to launch by early September, on Kickstarter (for early birds). Geeetech’s THUNDER 3D printer will come with a notably high printing speed, an all-metal body design, a “super strong cooling system”, and a large printing volume.

Geeetech has been working on the technology, which enables the THUNDER to print quickly without compromising the quality of the final part, for two years now, since 2020. According to Geeetech, the printer can reach a print speed of up to 300mm/s with an acceleration of 5000mm/s² for the X-axis, and 4000mm/s² for Y-axis. The company also claims that, with the same model and printing quality, users can save 30%-70% printing time, depending on the complexity of the model.

When designing the THUNDER printer, Geeetech adopted a dual-drive gear extruder, a high-power heating module, a large volume nozzle for extrusion, and five cooling fans for hot-end and model cooling. All of these aspects combined allow for better performance compared to traditional FDM 3D printers, according to Geeetech. The THUNDER printer’s high-speed 3D printing cannot be achieved without an efficient extrusion system and effective cooling system, while the all-metal body, with a dual Z-axis design, ensures the stability of the machine when it is moving at high speeds.

The THUNDER printer offers a printing volume of 250 x 250 x 260mm, and comes with five different printing modes, for different printing needs. It also supports other functions like break-resuming capabilities and password protection.

When Geeetech starts the Kickstarter project in September, early birds will be able to purchase a THUNDER printer for $399.
