IEBC, stakeholders team in Greece for date with ballot printer

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and stakeholders’ team are in Greece to visit the Inform Lykos ( (Hellas) SA company’s premises in Athens and witness the printing, packaging, and delivery process of ballot papers for the August 9th general election.

In a tweet on Saturday, the commission says the delegation led by IEBC Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera and Commissioner Francis Wanderi has stakeholders from religious organisations, Media Council Kenya, civil society, representatives of Presidential candidates of Roots Party of Kenya, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, United Democratic Alliance, Agano Party and officials from office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

IEBC says it is keen to deliver a free, fair, and credible General Election 2022.

At completion of production, the monitoring delegation will also verify in writing that the desired quality of ballot papers has been printed, stitched, and packaged on to pallets by Constituency name ready for shipment.

The Commision says the monitoring exercise consists of several principal activities including pre-travel briefing, vendor briefing, production spot checks, completion verification and witness the destruction of test run prints.

Prior to departure from Nairobi, IEBC Operation Directorate briefed the monitoring delegation on general production process, the delegation responsibilities and IEBC expectations.

IEBC also addressed logistic arrangements that addressed queries from the monitoring exercise.
